The settings, with the reason

  1. Step 1: Hoodie: Cold, inside out, cycle Normal. Dryer Low 30 minutes, then hang.High heat shrinks the cotton and cracks the print.
  2. Step 2: Jersey: Cold, inside out, on its own. Hang it.Dryer heat lifts the iron-on numbers.
  3. Step 3: Blood (a nosebleed, a cut, a period): cold water rinse first, then a dab of liquid soap, then a cold wash.Hot water sets blood.
  4. Step 4: Hockey or lacrosse gear: pads and gloves in a mesh bag, Cold, Delicate, air dry. The bag: empty it the same night.
  5. Step 5: Jeans: Cold, inside out, every third wear. Dryer Low or hang.
