CARE TAG LAB / THE WHY

A new baby outfit still has care instructions.

Should a new or received baby outfit go straight into use?

ACI’s new-parent guide recommends washing baby clothes when you first buy or receive them. The outfit’s care label and the detergent’s directions still matter.

Sort by the care needs, colors and soil levels described in those instructions. More detergent is not a shortcut. Store laundry products in their original containers, closed and out of children’s reach.

Handing down an outfit is also a chance to hand on its care details. Keep a special fabric, fastening or label restriction with the item.
